A lot of varieties of orchids are on Paulianne, from the most common to the most rare. Their flowering period starts from the beginning of may to the end of june. We identified not less than 18 varieties into our domain!

Anacamptis Pyramidalis

On the right, a Himantoglossum Hircinum: "Billy goat Orchis" , its name comes from the bad smell of its flowers. It's a very common orchid in France.

The Neottia Nidus-avis (Neottie bird nest) is a very special orchid: it doesn't have any chlorophyll because it has a symbiotic association with a mushroom in the earth (Rhizoctonia). So, it takes food from the ground and not from photosynthesis.
